The Montauk Group

Launched in 2006 in the spirit of the original, 1931 Group Theatre, revolutionary program that created the greatest theatre troupe the country has ever seen, Gary created the Montauk Group. An intense, full-time actor's workshop that takes place in the Hamptons during one month in the summer, the Montauk Group is a refuge for personal and professional growth. The house in Montauk, much like the barn in upstate NY used by Strasberg and Harold Clurman, serves like the mountain monastery to a monk and gives the actor a one-of-a-kind opportunity to connect with his/her inner power and use it in performance.

It is simply an amazing acting opportunity brimming over with personal discovery, sensory development, tuning of the imagination, and character and scene work. As an additional bonus, there will be a host of accomplished guests to speak and teach on direction, production, screen-writing, cooking, dancing, boxing and many more disciplines that coalesce with acting. Anyone with the desire to make an lasting impact in theatre, television or in cinema and/or to reach the apex of their personal and professional potential should not miss this exquisite and special summer event.

Furthermore, cameras are constantly rolling on a documentary that will try to summarize this unique journey. The 2008 Montauk Group will be the biggest production yet.
