Acting is not a profession that can be learned by simply doing. The actor needs to study, train, hone, perfect. There is no better format or environment available than the intensive workshops taught by Gary Swanson.
During these programs the students learn sensory work, improvisation and exercises developed from the Moscow Art Theater, the Group Theater, and The Actors Studio. They will implement these skills with fellow young actors on the stage and in front of the camera. It is an environment of totality. From the time the actors wake up in the morning until they put their heads on the pillows at night all activities relate to acting... and you'll have lots of fun with it!
A certified fitness trainer leads morning workouts on the beach and the actors prepare healthy meals together. Accommodations are provided.

HAMPTONS, NY, FALL 2010 - WRITERS & DIRECTORS WORKSHOP -
Tentatively planned for October, this new workshop is for actors as well as writers and directors. It will offer an opportunity for experimentation of new works as well as a chance to see them work-shopped with trained actors. Cross pollination of skill sets will give each group a better understanding of how to work with the others. All will be filmed to allow participants to see their work through the lens. Hamptons, NY, Summer '10 - An Amazing Two Months!
The opportunity for new and experienced actors to significantly develop their abilities and make an impact on their performances is never more available than in the summer programs! Three parts, ascending in complexity, sum to two months of intensive and complete training that you will not get anywhere else. The full two-month course is the equivalent of a year of work in a masters program for acting.
